The Hoosier State is set to welcome its first Buc-ee's! The Texas-based travel center chain is in late-stage discussions to open a location in Greenwood, a suburb south of Indianapolis, with an expected opening of 2028 or later.

Location Details

Buc-ee's is nearing a deal to purchase a nearly 28-acre site off East Worthsville Road and Interstate 65 in Greenwood, Johnson County. The company has signed a letter of intent for the property and is working to acquire portions of neighboring parcels for right-of-ways, utilities, and other infrastructure needs.

Timeline

The project is progressing through several phases:

• Property purchase expected to close in 2026 after a six-month inspection and due diligence period

• Rezoning required from current industrial designation to commercial use

• Development agreement with the City of Greenwood still being finalized

• Construction expected to take approximately two years once started

Infrastructure Requirements

The development agreement is expected to include plans for:

• Widening of Worthsville Road

• New intersection design at County Road 250 East

• Additional utility and access improvements

Strategic Location

The Greenwood site positions Buc-ee's along one of Indiana's busiest travel corridors. I-65 connects Indianapolis to Louisville, Kentucky and Chicago, Illinois, making it a prime location for the chain's signature road trip experience.

What This Means for Indiana

This will be Indiana's first Buc-ee's location, bringing the famous clean restrooms, fresh barbecue, Beaver Nuggets, and unique merchandise to a state that has long awaited the chain's arrival.
