First Buc-ee's in the Texas Panhandle

Buc-ee's opened its first location in the Texas Panhandle on December 16, 2024 in Amarillo. Originally slated to open in February 2025, the highly anticipated store opened ahead of schedule.

Grand Opening

People in Amarillo and those traveling along I-40 gathered at the doors for the store's grand opening at 6 a.m. The city hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the opening of the 51st Buc-ee's location a few hours later at 10 a.m.

Location

Located at 9900 East Interstate 40, Buc-ee's Amarillo is the first of its kind west of I-35, serving travelers on the historic Route 66 corridor through the Panhandle.

• 74,000 square feet of retail space
• 108 fueling positions
• 24 EV charging stations
• Full Texas BBQ kitchen
• Panhandle and Route 66 themed merchandise

Construction

Crews broke ground in October 2023, completing the massive facility ahead of schedule.

Employment

Buc-ee's Amarillo brought at least 200 jobs to the area with starting pay beginning well above minimum wage, full benefits, a 6% matching 401(k), and three weeks of paid vacation.
