Buc-ee's Mansfield, Richland County, Ohio (OH) - Coming 2027
Buc-ee’s is officially moving forward in Mansfield, Ohio, where the company is planning its second Ohio location along Interstate 71. City officials and Buc-ee’s representatives have been working together on the project since May 2025, with approvals rapidly advancing through annexation, rezoning, and planning stages.
Buc-ee’s Planned for Mansfield, Ohio
The proposed Buc-ee’s travel center will be located near the Interstate 71 and Ohio 39 interchange in Richland County, a highly traveled corridor between Columbus and Cleveland. The project site includes approximately 73 acres near State Route 39 and Hanley Road.
Mansfield city officials have described the development as one of the largest commercial projects currently in progress for the area.
Annexation and Rezoning Approved
The project has moved quickly through local government approvals over the past year. Buc-ee’s began discussions with Mansfield officials in May 2025, and since then the property has been annexed into the city.
A final annexation vote is scheduled for May 19, 2026, while rezoning approvals and development plans are already working through the Mansfield Planning Commission.
According to city officials, infrastructure planning and utility coordination are also underway as the development process accelerates toward construction.
Expected Store Features
While final site plans are still under review, the Mansfield Buc-ee’s is expected to follow the company’s large-format travel center model seen at newer locations across the country.
The proposed travel center is expected to include:
More than 70,000 square feet of retail space
Over 100 fueling positions
Large parking areas for travelers
Buc-ee’s signature food offerings including brisket sandwiches, Beaver Nuggets, and fresh bakery items
Expanded merchandise and convenience retail space
Modern restroom facilities and traveler amenities
The development is also expected to generate hundreds of jobs once completed.
Economic Impact for Mansfield
Local leaders have emphasized the economic impact Buc-ee’s could bring to Richland County, including tourism traffic, sales tax revenue, and employment opportunities.
The location along I-71 makes Mansfield a strategic stop for travelers heading between Ohio’s largest metro areas, while also positioning the city as a destination stop for Buc-ee’s fans traveling throughout the Midwest.
City officials noted during planning discussions that Buc-ee’s developments often attract additional commercial growth near interstate exits after opening.
Opening Timeline
The Mansfield project is moving at a rapid pace compared to many large-scale developments. Current estimates project a Fall 2027 opening date, assuming final planning approvals and construction timelines remain on schedule.
If completed as planned, Mansfield would become Buc-ee’s second Ohio location as the company continues its aggressive Midwest expansion.
