Georgia's Fourth Buc-ee's Coming to Monroe County

Buc-ee's has broke ground on April 7, 2026.

Central Georgia is getting a Buc-ee's! The Monroe County Board of Commissioners approved plans for a new travel center off I-75 at Rumble Road near Forsyth, expected to open in Summer 2027.

Project Approval

The Monroe County Board of Commissioners approved Buc-ee's plans to build at the Rumble Road location off I-75. The Georgia Environmental Protection Division granted the chain a stream buffer variance on July 30, 2025, allowing construction within 25 feet of state waters on the 30.79-acre tract.

Store Specifications

• 74,000 square feet of retail space

• 120 gas pumps

• 30.79-acre property

• Larger than the nearby Warner Robins location (53,000 sq ft)

Economic Impact

The project promises significant benefits for Monroe County:

• At least 200 full-time jobs

• Starting pay of at least $17 per hour

• $10 million in road improvements paid by Buc-ee's

• Approximately $30 million in estimated sales tax revenue

Strategic Location

The Forsyth location will serve travelers on I-75 between Atlanta and Macon. It will be Georgia's fourth Buc-ee's, joining existing stores in Warner Robins, Calhoun, and the newly opened Brunswick location.

Timeline

According to Monroe County Commission Chairman Gregory V. Tapley, there is not yet an official timeline for construction, but the county expects the Buc-ee's to be operational by Summer 2027.
