Kansas's First Buc-ee's Coming to KCK

The Unified Government of Wyandotte County Board of Commissioners approved a development agreement to build Kansas's first-ever Buc-ee's on 20 acres of land at 601 Village West Parkway, near the Kansas Speedway. Groundbreaking occurred on October 16, 2025.

Location Details

The new Buc-ee's will be located in the Village West area of Kansas City, Kansas, near other major attractions including the Kansas Speedway, Legends Outlets shopping center, and Children's Mercy Park (home of Sporting KC).

Store Features

The Kansas City, Kansas location will be one of the largest Buc-ee's in the country, featuring:

• 74,000 square feet of retail space
• 120 gas pumps
• 12 electric vehicle charging stations
• Full range of Buc-ee's favorites including Texas BBQ, Beaver Nuggets, and fresh fudge

Economic Impact

The project represents a $95 million investment and will create 200 to 250 full-time positions. Most employees will earn $18 to $20 per hour, with some management positions earning six-figure salaries.

The development includes $13.3 million in tax incentives to cover infrastructure improvements including road improvements, electrical relocation, and improvements to the I-70 interchange. A community improvement district will levy a 1% sales tax on purchases at Buc-ee's, generating up to $10 million over 20 years.

Regional Significance

This will be the first Buc-ee's in Kansas, expanding the brand's reach into the Kansas City metropolitan area. The nearest current Buc-ee's is in Springfield, Missouri, which opened in December 2023.
