Buc-ee's opened its Katy location in September 2017, and it quickly became famous for setting a Guinness World Record. The 255-foot-long car wash was certified as the world's longest on November 16, 2017.

World Record Car Wash

Buc-ee's co-founder Arch "Beaver" Aplin was presented a framed certificate by Guinness World Records recognizing the 255-foot-long car wash as "Officially Amazing." The mega-wash features:

• 25 foam brushes

• 17 high-powered blow dryers

• Blue, yellow, and pink suds

• Can accommodate up to 16 cars at a time

• Takes about five minutes to complete

Located at Katy Freeway and Cane Island Parkway, this Buc-ee's serves the rapidly growing Katy area west of Houston.

Hurricane Harvey Impact

The car wash was originally slated to open in August 2017 but was shut down by Hurricane Harvey. Buc-ee's took advantage of the delay to give the facility its own generator.
