Buc-ee's New Kent, New Kent County, Virginia (VA) - Coming 2031
Buc-ee's is bringing a second Virginia location to New Kent County along I-64, expected to open in 2031 after road improvements are completed.
Virginia's Second Buc-ee's Coming to New Kent County
Buc-ee's is planning its second Virginia location in New Kent County, strategically positioned along Interstate 64 between Richmond and Williamsburg. The store is expected to open in 2029 2031, coordinating with major highway improvements.
Location Details
The 75,000+ square foot travel center will be built at Exit 211 off Interstate 64, approximately 25 miles east of Richmond. In June 2023, Buc-ee's paid $6.5 million for 27.68 acres at this prime location.
Why the Wait?
The opening timeline is tied to Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) improvements at the Exit 211 interchange. The VDOT project includes:
A new "diverging diamond" interchange design
I-64 widening in the area
Construction scheduled to begin spring 2027
Expected completion September
20292031
Planned Features
More than 75,000 square feet of retail space
120 fueling positions
Parking for over 650 vehicles
Electric vehicle charging stations
RV and bus parking
Estimated 200+ jobs
Strategic Location
The New Kent site sits perfectly positioned for travelers heading to Virginia Beach, Colonial Williamsburg, and other Tidewater attractions. Once open, it will serve the heavy I-64 traffic corridor that currently lacks major travel center options.
