Ruston held the official groundbreaking for Louisiana's first Buc-ee's on October 24, 2025, at the site located at I-20 and Tarbutton Road. Construction began in late September 2025 with dirt work and intersection renovations.

Timeline Background

The Ruston City Council first confirmed the Buc-ee's location in 2023, but progress stalled due to an extended state permitting process. Mayor Walker expressed frustration over the two-year wait for state approvals before construction could begin.
